How much of the $20 goes to the kids?

Between $15 and $18 of the will go to kids but we try to keep costs low in any way we can get as much as possible to the orphans. The money from this fundraiser will go to pay for medical check ups for the kids.

I wish to be sure this is legitimate, how can you let me know.

The Beza Kids Project is a Penn State Project run by started by Professor Lee Ann De Reus and her students. This is a new project that she was inspired to take on while doing her work with the Panzi Hospital in the Congo. I have been involved from the beginning of the project but was inspired by Lee Ann's vision and story of the kids.

This project is still in its infant stages with the main website still being built and we are waiting for our application for our fiscal sponsor to clear. Once that application goes through we will post the information for you. Lee Ann, her students, and myself are already planning fund raisers to pay for mosquito nets, dental hygiene supplies, and first aid kits. This fund raiser is to pay for medical check ups for all the kids.

None of us are paid in any way shape or form for the work we do and we make every effort to keep costs down to ensure that every possible cent goes to help the children.

As these questions come in I am making every effort answer them directly and will post them to the fundraising site.

Both Lee Ann and I, Corey Dragge, are Carl Wilkens Fellows with Save Darfur and The Genocide Intervention Network. This is real project that will make a real difference to children that need real help.

After I've purchased this, will the child I share this bracelet be able to contact me and stay in touch?..  can send gifts?

Not yet but we are working on a sponsorship program and will know more after our trip in June. During this trip not only will we be providing some much needed supplies but to also assess the local school costs, medical insurance, and food programs. It is our hope that we will be able to take a photo of every child with their bracelet so we can send it back to you but 800 kids is a lot of photos to go through and post. I really want to extend the connection shared between you and the child and we are working on ways to do this.

I will look into the the possibility of sending letters and maybe gifts.

I would like to feel confident enough to make a purchase, the website is nice but also seems easily put together... I wish to have the confidence to move forward with my purchase today.

The site was fairly easy to put together and it was free and as I mentioned before the reason for that was to save money so we can send more to the children. Cool high tech sites cost money and I can't justify taking a penny from these children. A professionally done website maybe done in the future if it is donated but our focus is being cost effective to ensure the most help to the orphans.

Are you a registered non profit?

We are currently waiting for our application for a fiscal sponsor to process. Once this process is complete we will post the information but with June rapidly approaching we needed to start the fundraising to ensure the orphans got the help that they needed regardless of the status of our application.
